Thank you for joining me today as we reflect on one of the Church’s most enduring hymns of praise and testimony. May your heart be stirred to worship and your faith deepened as we explore the richness of God’s redeeming grace.
Opening Prayer
Gracious Lord, our hearts are full of thanksgiving for your redeeming love. We long for a thousand tongues to sing the praises of our great Redeemer. Help us today to grasp more fully the triumphs of your grace, the power of your name, and the cleansing blood of Christ. Fill us with a bold desire to proclaim your glory so that all the earth may know the joy, peace, and freedom found in Jesus. We ask this in his precious name. Amen.
O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
By Charles Wesley
O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer’s praise,
the glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of his grace!My gracious Master and my God,
assist me to proclaim,
to spread thro’ all the earth abroad
the honors of your name.Jesus! the name that charms our fears,
that bids our sorrows cease,
‘tis music in the sinner’s ears,
‘tis life and health and peace.He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
he sets the prisoner free;
his blood can make the foulest clean;
his blood availed for me.To God all glory, praise, and love
be now and ever given
by saints below and saints above,
the Church in earth and heaven.
