Tonight’s Verse
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.
Jude 24-25
Reflection
Advent is a season of anticipation and preparation, not only for celebrating Christ’s birth but also for his glorious return. In Jude’s exhortation, we’re reminded to stay vigilant in faith, persevering in the love of God as we await his mercy. This season calls us to hold fast to hope, knowing that Christ is able to keep us from stumbling and will present us blameless before his glory with great joy.
Jude’s encouragement to “build yourselves up in your most holy faith” (v. 20) and “keep yourselves in the love of God” (v. 21) resonates deeply during Advent. As we light candles and meditate on Christ’s coming, we’re reminded that we aren’t merely waiting passively. We actively grow in faith, prayer, and love, confident that God himself sustains us. His power and mercy ensure that the work he has begun in us will be brought to completion when Christ returns (Philippians 1:6).
Tonight, as you reflect on this Advent season, rest in the assurance that Christ is keeping you. He is both the initiator and finisher of your faith. As you wait for his return, embrace his mercy and let his presence guide and sustain you. May the promise of his glory fill your heart with peace and your mind with hope, even as you rest under the shelter of his eternal care.
Prayer
Gracious Lord, thank you for your promise to keep me from stumbling and present me blameless before your glory. In this Advent season, strengthen my faith as I wait for your mercy and prepare my heart to meet you with joy. Help me to build my life on the foundation of your love, keeping my hope fixed on your promises. As I lay down to rest tonight, may your peace guard my heart and your grace sustain me for the days ahead. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.
Hymn Verse:
“Come, Thou Fount of every blessing,
Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
Streams of mercy, never ceasing,
Call for songs of loudest praise.”
(Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing, Robert Robinson, 1758)
This Evening Peace devotional encourages us to actively prepare our hearts during Advent, trusting in Christ’s power to keep us and present us blameless in his glory. Rest tonight in the assurance that his mercy sustains you, and his love surrounds you as you wait for his return.
